My background and training:
I have an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (awarded by London Metropolitan University).
I am a member of the BACP and the UKCP. I adhere to the code of Ethics of my training institute, the BACP and the UKCP to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
As a qualified psychotherapist I undertake regular supervision. This is integral to my work and is a place to reflect on what I do and to ensure the quality, integrity and relevance of my work.
I have worked in a variety of settings over the years with children and adults. This has included:
- working as a residential social worker
- at the charity, Changing Faces, supporting children and adults living with conditions affecting appearance
- at MIND offering psychotherapy to adults with mental health concerns
- as a Honarary Arts Psychotherapist in a hospital
My psychotherapy practice in Reading focuses on supporting adults and has been greatly influenced by my work over the years, particularly in relation to the impact that early life events (including repeated medical intervention and trauma) can have on the development of personality and influences an individual's experience of relationships.
I have a rich experience of living and working in multi-cultural environments in South Africa and the UK. I am tolerant and interested in similarities and differences in people and their cultures and the influence this has on their lives.
